Sorry this post is going to be phote-free because my WordPress site is not letting me add photos 😦 If I get it to work soon…I will repost with the photos 🙂
So, here’s a little update on the workout rut that I talked about in a previous post! I am happy to report that I am slowly but surely getting out of my workout rut!
The first step for getting my motivation back was by joining a new gym. So far I really like my new gym…there are plenty of machines, a good variety of classes and a huge swimming pool (that I have never used :). AND, it’s right across the street from my house, which is really helpful! So far I have gone to spinning and Zumba classes. I am a lot more motivated in a group class than I am on my own.
Another way I changed up my workout routine is by getting up in the mornings to workout before work. I always have great intentions to get up to workout but when the alarm goes off my cozy bed is too hard to leave! I actually saw a “pin” on Pinterest that talked about getting up early to workout that instantly motivated me. It basically said that you will regret it if you don’t do it, so suck it up and get out of bed! So, I have been getting up early at least three days a week to get a sweat session in before the sun comes up. I love easing into my day by giving myself enough time to workout in the mornings. I hate the feeling of waking up in the morning with just enough time to put the least amount of effort into getting ready and head out the door (which is what I was doing before!). So, I am gradually turning myself into a morning exerciser!
Another workout I tried recently was Oula. This is what the Oula website says about this fun workout: “Oula is an easy to follow, high cardio, dance fitness class for people of all abilities. It is a motivating hour of high-energy exercise to great music where participants are free to let it all out, and dance free of judgement. Oula is not just an exercise class, it is an experience. We are a welcoming community where you enter looking to burn calories, and leave feeling better about yourself and your day. Oula is dancemania for your soul.” (www.oulafitness.com) YES PLEASE!! I absolutely loved this workout! It was similar to Zumba with a little less Latino moves and music. One of the instructors wore a heart rate monitor for a week of Oula classes and discovered that the average number of calories she burned per class was 900! Oula is a new workout, but if you get the opportunity to try it, DO IT! You won’t regret it J
I’m hoping that my workout motivation will stick around! It’s always good to mix things up to jumpstart your motivation level. A
Are there any new fitness/workout classes that you have tried lately?? Do you like to try new classes??
